BELMONT CITIZENS FORUM ACQUIRES LAND FOR WAYSIDE RAIL TRAIL

Would complete community path from Belmont Center to Alewife station

The Belmont Citizens Forum has acquired a 30 foot wide strip of land adjacent to the commuter rail tracks behind Channing Road. We propose to dedicate this for use as a public right-of-way for a shared-use bicycle and pedestrian path that will ultimately connect Belmont Center and the Alewife T Station.

The Belmont Citizens Forum is a community organization that strives to maintain the small-town atmosphere of Belmont, Massachusetts, by preserving its natural and historical resources, limiting traffic growth, and enhancing pedestrian safety. We accomplish this goal by keeping residents informed about planning and zoning issues, by participating actively in public hearings, and by organizing forums on key subjects.
