It’s been great to see new Staycation postcards coming into the Belmont Citizens Forum Facebook Page — see below for one of a series of postcards from some young Belmont Superheroes!

Now it’s time to get your picnic basket ready to join us for the Staycation community picnic from 12:00-2:00 Saturday August 13 on the Town Green by Wellington Station (Common Street and Concord Ave).

Please bring your own picnic and blanket. We will supply popsicles from an historic Underwood family ice chest, and tell Belmont stories about the history of the ice industry and food preservation. We hope to have something for everyone: frisbees aplenty, a croquet set (thanks to the Belmont Woman’s Club 1853 Homer House), tours of local historic artifacts in the Wellington station by the Belmont Historical Society, a session of kids Yoga by Groundwork Yoga starting at 1:00, and more.

The picnic marks the midpoint of our Belmont Staycation for August 2016 — come meet new friends, get your own Staycation passport if you don’t already have one, take a selfie to post as a Staycation “postcard” on the Belmont Citizens Forum Facebook Page, participate in the Staycation survey, and share tips about hidden gems to find and enjoy in Belmont.

We will announce the prizes for a September 3 Staycation drawing for anyone who participates by sending us a passport, a postcard, or a survey — prize ideas are welcome until midnight August 12.
